This announcement here https:\/\/www.hpe.com\/us\/en\/newsroom\/press-release\/2026\/06\/s-k-y-co-ltd-accelerates-secure-ai-development-with-hpe-private-cloud-ai.html<\/a> caught my eye. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

OK, I have to be honest\u2014after reading this announcement my biggest takeaway was to end up thinking Sky Co probably negotiated a nice discount with HPE for agreeing to be a \u201cuse case.\u201d Yep, I am being facetious; I am not really stating that is what happened here, but just noting that due to the complete absence of anything actually newsworthy in this announcement, my mind got creative and started thinking this way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, notwithstanding why Sky Co may have agreed to feature in this announcement, beyond the use of their name there is remarkably little to get hold of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Core Message<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The core message boils down to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHPE Private Cloud AI helps customers do AI securely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which, for seasoned enterprise tech readers, translates to: \u201cWe have a customer on private cloud, we are in the AI age, so we had better state our public cloud is an AI cloud, and yes we still have security, which we always do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buzzwords Over Detail<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Scratch beneath the surface and you find a familiar pattern. The announcement leans heavily on phrases like secure AI development, enterprise-grade, and data sovereignty, all of which sound reassuring\u2014but also apply equally well to almost every competing hybrid or private cloud platform released in the past decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If vendors are going to shout about customer successes, how about telling us things like\u2014were there any measurable performance improvements (if so, do share!), what was the architectural detail, and please, please, please\u2014what are the actual capabilities of the AI that you tout?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strategic Vagueness<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

HPE, take note: what we end up with is a distinct lack of detail in favour of several paragraphs of \u201cstrategic vagueness\u201d\u2014a generous layering of buzzwords over well-understood, long-standing, traditional infrastructure concepts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know I have picked on HPE today, but in fairness they are not alone in doing this. However, this particular release is a shining example of wasting an opportunity to really explain why an important customer actually chose their solution over the other options out there. For the seasoned reader, we will see and fill the gaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eternal Sceptic<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In my case I am the eternal sceptic, so that alarm bell about discount was screaming in my head. But to be fair, that is just me \u201cfilling the gap,\u201d and there could be solid technical reasons for Sky Co.\u2019s choice\u2014it is just that this announcement does a great job of not telling us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
